How to Sharpen Your Pruners with FELCO™ 902 and 903

Before we dive into the sharpening process, let's understand the tools we'll be using:

FELCO™ 902 Sharpening Stone: This stone offers two grit options: medium and fine. The medium grit is ideal for initial sharpening, while the fine grit is perfect for honing the edge.
FELCO™ 903 Sharpening Tool: This multi-function tool is designed for sharpening, de-burring, and tempering blades. Its diamond coating ensures efficient and precise sharpening.

Sharpening Process

Remove any dirt, sap, or rust from the blade using a wire brush or a cleaning cloth.
Ensure the blade is dry before proceeding.

Medium Grit (Blue Section of 902): Use this for initial sharpening or when the blade is significantly dull.
Fine Grit (White Section of 902) or FELCO™ 903: Use this for honing the edge and maintaining sharpness.

Maintain a consistent sharpening angle of around 25-30 degrees.
A consistent angle ensures a clean, sharp edge.

Draw Stroke: Gently draw the blade across the sharpening stone, maintaining the correct angle.
Alternate Sides: Alternate between the two sides of the blade to ensure even sharpening.
Light Pressure: Apply light, consistent pressure to avoid damaging the blade.

Use the de-burring side of the FELCO™ 903 to remove any burrs or irregularities on the blade's edge.

Test the sharpness of the blade by gently cutting a piece of paper. A sharp blade will cut cleanly without tearing.
